Position: REGISTERED NURSE - RESPIRATORY - F/T NIGHTS

Overview

The Registered Nurse – Respiratory – Full Time Nights position at Hackensack Meridian Health is based in Edison, New Jersey. This role focuses on expanding knowledge and skills, provides direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients, and coordinates patient care with other caregivers.

Responsibilities

A Registered Nurse at Hackensack Meridian Health delivers nursing practices according to current evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care to provide safe and excellent patient care. A day in the life includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse leads care for a specific patient population, delegates and coordinates care, and ensures continuity of care across the unit and with physicians and support services.

  • Assessment:
    Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patients health or the situation; performs age- and disease-specific assessments independently, focusing on physiologic, psychological and cognitive status; recognizes clinical and diagnostic status changes; identifies education needs based on age, disease, and learning differences.
  • Plan:
    Develops a plan of care with strategies and interventions to attain outcomes; creates age- and disease-specific patient/family-centered goals based on assessment data; coordinates a patient/family-focused plan of care across the continuum.
  • Implementation:
    Communicates and coordinates the plan of care; maintains ongoing communication with patient/family, nursing colleagues, and the health care team; administers age- and disease-specific care; provides patient/family education and ensures understanding; adheres to protocols and documents events; ensures evidence-based practice and safety in medication administration using available technologies; facilitates safe discharge planning and transition of care.
  • Evaluation:
    Evaluates progress toward outcomes; applies critical thinking to achieve outcomes; initiates interventions in response to patient condition changes or unexpected responses to care.
Qualifications

Education, Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Required

  • Minimum of an associate degree in nursing or diploma in nursing.
  • BSN in progress and/or willingness to obtain within three years of hire (policy details apply by date of hire).
  • Six months or more of relevant nursing experience or active participation in Hackensack Meridian Health's Nurse Residency Program.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing patient needs, strong accountability, teamwork, ongoing education, and dedication to high-quality patient care.

Preferred

  • National Certification in area of specialty preferred when eligible.

Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work at the assigned Hackensack Meridian Health location by date of hire.
  • BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association is required within 60 days of hire.
Compensation

Minimum rate of $45.73 hourly. Hackensack Meridian Health is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay at the time of posting and does not reflect the full value of the total rewards package.
