Registered Nurse functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population to achieve desired outcomes. The role focuses on expanding knowledge and skills, provides effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients, and coordinates care among nursing peers, physicians, and support services.

• Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation.
• Perform age and disease‑specific assessment/data collection independently in a systematic manner.
• Recognize clinical and diagnostic status changes in patient status.
• Identify variables in patient/family education needs based on age, disease, and culturally specific learning differences.
• Develop and coordinate a plan of care to attain expected outcomes.
• Communicate, coordinate, and implement the plan of care.
• Provide ongoing communication with patient/family, nursing colleagues, and other health‑care team members regarding patient status and treatment plans.
• Ensure nursing care and treatments reflect patient needs, advocate appropriately, and demonstrate evidence‑based nursing practice and compliance with standards.
• Perform continuous electronic documentation of assessments, interventions, and evaluation of rendered care.
• Administer medication using bar‑scanning and documentation technologies.
• Engage in multi‑disciplinary discharge planning to ensure safe transition and continuum of care.
• Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to achieve desired patient outcomes.
• Initiate interventions related to patient’s change in condition and unexpected response to care.
• Identify ethical issues and bring them to the attention of the team.
• Recognize and respond to opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction.
• Maintain required competencies, certifications, and continuing education.
• Adhere to the American Nurses Association Code for Nurses and HMH’s organizational and managerial competencies.
• Lift a minimum of 35 lbs., push/pull a minimum of 10 lbs., and stand a minimum of 6 hours a day.
• Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Education: BSN in progress or willing to acquire within three (3) years of hire.

Experience: Six (6) or more months of relevant nursing experience, or active participation in HMH Nurse Residency Program.

Skills & Attributes: Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, strong sense of accountability, dedication to teamwork, commitment to ongoing education, and passion for delivering the highest quality of patient care.

• New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse License.
• BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.

• National certification in specialty area (when eligible).

Minimum hourly rate: $45.73.
