Job Overview

The Registered Nurse functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population in order to achieve desired outcomes. This position focuses on expanding knowledge and skills, provides effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients, directs and oversees care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination, and coordinates patient care/unit activities among nursing peers, physicians and support services.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing practices according to evidence‑based research, nursing policies, and standards of care.
  • Assessment: Collect comprehensive data, perform age and disease specific assessment, recognize clinical changes, identify educational needs.
  • Plan: Develop a plan of care, formulate patient/family centered goals, and coordinate a patient/family focused plan.
  • Implementation: Communicate and implement the care plan, coordinate family education, document in the electronic system, administer medication using bar‑scanning technology, facilitate multidisciplinary discharge, and maintain communication with the care team.
  • Evaluation: Evaluate progress toward outcomes, use critical thinking skills to achieve desired patient outcomes, and initiate interventions related to changes in condition.
  • Identify ethical issues, respond to opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction, maintain required competencies, certifications, and continuing education, adhere to the ANA Code, meet physical requirements, adhere to HMH competencies, and complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum associate in Nursing or diploma of Nursing degree.
  • BSN in progress or to be acquired within three years of hire (additional CC contract specifications noted).
  • Six months or more relevant nursing experience, or active participation in HMH Nurse Residency Program.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing patient needs, strong teamwork, dedication to ongoing education, and passion for highest quality care.

Preferred:

  • National certification in area of specialty, when eligible.

Licenses & Certifications

Required:

  • Current and valid RN license for the assigned HMH location by date of hire.
  • BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
Compensation

Minimum rate of $45.73 hourly. Base compensation may vary based on market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, location, internal equity, and departmental budgets. Shift differentials and performance incentives may apply.
