Nurse Professional Development Specialist - Evenings

About This Role

The Nurse Professional Development Specialist (NPD) is a Registered Nurse/Educator with an Advanced Nursing Degree, focusing on nursing education, leadership, and practice development. This role is ideal for those passionate about fostering lifelong learning and improving nursing practices.

• Location: Edison, NJ
• Facility: Hackensack Meridian Health
• Schedule: Full-time, Evening shift

• Create teaching/learning strategies that promote application of knowledge, skills, and attitudes to practice.
• Analyze competency assessment data to identify gaps in practice.
• Develop educational programs to achieve patient-oriented outcomes.
• Plan orientation and competency requirements based on future needs of staff.
• Manage practice gaps between academia and service.
• Apply change theory to support organizational innovation and change management.
• Encourage lifelong learning and partner with staff to facilitate achievement of personal and professional goals.
• Align activities with organizational goals and provide a voice in legislative, regulatory, and accrediting bodies.
• Use research/EBP for clinical and nursing professional development practice change.
• Participate in unit-specific initiatives to improve patient care outcomes.

• Graduate Degree (Master's or greater) in Nursing or related field required.

• Minimum of 3 or more years of current experience in Nursing in an acute care hospital required.

• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License required.
• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
