This is a day shift position (8 a.m.
- 4 p.m.) with no weekend, holiday, or call requirements.
The Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) provides comprehensive, outpatient cardiology care within our satellite clinic network, primarily in Somerset, NJ. The APP will work within the multidisciplinary clinical team to provide individualized patient care through history and physical assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, medication ordering, prescribing and management, formulating diagnoses and patient/family education. They promote evidence‑based practice by conducting or participating in research studies and academic activities, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
The patient population is one with known or suspected cardiac disease.
- Utilizes advanced assessment skills to manage a cohort of patients. Performs and documents daily assessments. Collects and analyzes data and formulates a family‑centered plan of care.
- Performs any needed advanced procedures that are listed in the Scope of Practice Document and approved as a part of the credentialing process.
- Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of the prescribed treatment plan. Using the most current evidence, modifies the plan of care based on the effectiveness of the treatment and the patient/family response to the plan.
- Serves as an educational resource to the patient/family, nursing staff, and provider team. Acts as a consultant to multidisciplinary health care team members.
- Participates in scholarly activities including research and education. Participates in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate educational offerings. Participates in the professional development of others. Acts as a preceptor and mentor to support the development of nurses, nurse practitioners, students, and other health care providers.
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practice to enhance safety. Shares errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms. Demonstrates shared accountability for safe practice.
- Master’s Degree Nursing – Required
- Bachelor’s Degree Physician Assistant – Required
- Master’s Degree Physician Assistant – Preferred
- Ability to work in an inter-professional team setting with multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to use computer and electronic medical records effectively.

- Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) – Pennsylvania State Licensing Board – upon hire – Required or
- Registered Nurse (New Jersey) – New Jersey State Licensing Board – upon hire – Required and
- Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) (Pennsylvania) – Pennsylvania State Licensing Board – upon hire – Required or
- Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) (New Jersey) – New Jersey State Licensing Board – upon hire – Required and
- Prescriptive Authority (Pennsylvania) – Pennsylvania State Licensing Board – within 3 months – Required or
- Prescriptive Authority (New Jersey) – New Jersey State Licensing Board – within 3 months – Required and
- Specialty Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in area of education/subspecialty – upon hire – Required
- Certified Physician Assistant (PA‑C) (Pennsylvania) – Pennsylvania State Licensing Board – upon hire – Required or
- Certified Physician Assistant (PA‑C) (New Jersey) – New Jersey State Licensing Board – upon hire – Required and
- Certified Physician Assistant (PA‑C) – National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants – upon hire – Required

Salary ranges are shown for full‑time jobs. If you are working part‑time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly. This job is eligible for an incentive program.
