Description

The Nurse Manager is the designated leader responsible for the provision of high‑quality nursing care that is compliant with federal, state and local regulations. The role includes, but is not limited to, 24/7 accountability for the assigned unit(s), daily operations, interprofessional collaboration, execution of policies & procedures, financial management, development of strategic projects, support of growth, and enhancement of the patient and staff experience.

The Nurse Manager assesses, plans, implements, monitors and evaluates nursing practice and the nursing care delivery system, with direct supervision of front‑line staff.

Responsibilities
  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of nursing care and goals related to patient care, quality and organizational initiatives.
  • Manages day‑to‑day operations and ensures all team members understand emergency/disaster response policies and unit‑specific response plans.
  • Monitors nursing standards of practice, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory agencies.
  • Develops, plans, evaluates and consistently monitors budgetary and financial priorities related to the delivery of patient care, including payroll and scheduling.
  • Promotes cost‑effective use of organizational resources while managing acuity, workload, volume, staffing plans, productivity, variance analysis, budget preparation and equipment/supply management.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills by establishing and maintaining mutually supportive partners in care, displaying effective communication, coaching and mentoring of team members.
  • Supervises, plans, evaluates and monitors educational programs, evidence‑based practice, and supports team members in collaboration with the Department of Education, ensuring required participation.
  • Supports the Magnet Program Director and Magnet program by ensuring a shared governance model, data collection, exemplar writing and document coordination.
  • Prioritizes organizational goals and incorporates them into standard work, leading and/or participating in committee work with clear performance improvement goals that align with the mission, vision and philosophy of nursing and the organization.
  • Professionally reviews complaints or opportunities for improvement with timely follow‑up to the appropriate department, including service recovery efforts with patients, families, administration or regulatory agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), three years' experience as a Registered Nurse, and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of patients and caregivers, exceptional teamwork, dedication to ongoing education, and a passion for delivering high‑quality care.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • National certification in area of specialty preferred when eligible.
  • Three years’ progressive leadership experience.
Licenses & Certifications Required
  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
