Quality Lab Assistant

Overview

Kane Brewing Company is an award-winning production brewery located on the coast of New Jersey. Established in 2011, our focus is on handcrafted hoppy, barrel-aged, and spontaneous ales brewed locally and distributed by our team in Ocean, NJ. We are looking for full time Quality Lab Assistant to add to our growing team. In this role, you will report to the Quality Lab Technician.

To thrive/succeed as the Quality Lab Assistant you should have:

• Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related scientific field.
• 1–2 years of quality control/quality assurance laboratory experience in the food, beverage, health, or pharmaceutical industry; knowledge of fermentation and brewery operations is a plus.
• Detail-oriented professional with strong work ethic and excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Self-motivated team player who communicates effectively with colleagues and customers while also working independently.
• Adaptable and proactive, with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, rapidly changing environments and take initiative beyond assigned responsibilities.

Your responsibilities as the Quality Lab Assistant will include:

• Perform daily quality control testing, including gravity analysis, microbiological plating and plate reading, PCR testing, yeast harvesting, and yeast cell counts.
• Calibrate, maintain, and verify laboratory equipment while preparing stock solutions, media, and other laboratory reagents.
• Identify and communicate out-of-specification batches, collaborating with cross-functional teams to investigate issues and support corrective actions.
• Support sensory evaluations, maintain sensory archives, manage laboratory inventory, and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
• Assist in production, packaging, and cellar operations as needed, including quality testing, sanitation, and other operational support tasks.
