Merchandise Testing Lab Technician (Temporary)

The Lab Technician assists the Chemists, Sr. Chemists, and Manager with administrative tasks in the Tiffany & Co. Merchandise Testing Laboratory. Responsibilities include sample preparation and testing of incoming product and manufacturing materials.

• Perform routine laboratory functions that include weighing of gold, silver or platinum samples for gravimetric or instrumental analysis.
• Perform non‑destructive analysis of samples that include X‑Ray Fluorescence and Stress Testing of Crystal using a Polarimeter.
• Prepare samples for food contact testing or performance testing and document results.
• Organize and file laboratory data and documentation. Assist with data entry utilizing Microsoft Access databases and issue reports for samples submitted to the lab.
• Assist with shipping, receiving and repacking test samples in to and out of the Merchandise Testing Laboratory (MTL).
• Conduct routine set up and maintenance of laboratory equipment and glassware. Participate in all safety training seminars and follow all job safety requirements.

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or another related scientific discipline.
• 1+ year of analytical laboratory experience.
• Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Access).

• American Society for Quality Certifications.
• Experience with XRF or ICP‑OES.

This is a fully on‑site position based in NJ.

6-month temporary contract.

The hiring range for this position is $23.50 – $27.50 per hour, dependent on candidates’ relevant skills and experience.
