About This Position

Sales Assistants are here to assist the sales staff. It is a front-line job that deals directly with the customers. It is a high-pressure job with a fast pace during most of the day.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Take incoming phone calls that pertain to making, tracing, or checking on an order.
  • Make calls to customers and take calls from customers when a salesperson is on another line or out of the office.
  • Assist the sales staff in processing and completing orders during peak periods.
  • Assist the sales staff with the processing of journal vouchers, faxed in orders, mailed in orders, tracing of orders and proof of delivery of orders when needed.
  • Other duties as determined by the needs of the business.
What You'll Need
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to type at least 50 wpm.
  • Have a cheerful phone voice.
  • Ability to work under pressure with good accuracy.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Able to work on more than one job/project at a time.
  • Be able to work a 10-key calculator.
  • Will need minimal supervision.
  • Have good interpersonal skills and communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
