Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Assistant Director of Water Quality, the Quality Assurance Coordinator assists in laboratory compliance and water quality regulatory compliance. Supervises laboratory instrumentation technicians and performs supervisory on-call duties, as scheduled.
Work Performed- Coordinates, oversees, and performs, as needed, physical, chemical and bacteriological testing including analytical instrumentation analyses.
- Ensure all QA/QC is met for lab instrumentation including the following:
- Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) for metals analysis
- Atomic Adsorption Spectrometer (AA) for metals analysis
- Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) for VOC analysis
- Purge and Trap Analyzer for TTHM analysis
- Total Organic Carbon (TOC) analyzer
- Acute toxicity screening & ATP Analysis
- Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) for cyanotoxins
- Supervise instrumentation technicians in their performance of established laboratory programs and procedures for the testing of water samples in accordance with approved laboratory protocols.
- Supervise and maintain necessary records and files.
- Maintain supplies and equipment as needed for the operation of the laboratory including calibration, standardization and repair of instruments where applicable.
- Prepare media and reagents as required for laboratory use.
- Works with the Laboratory Supervisor in the maintenance of NJDEP laboratory certification and site inspections.
- Serves as the Quality Assurance Officer as required by NJDEP’s Office of Quality Assurance.
- Assist the Laboratory Supervisor in the development and implementation of new laboratory test procedures and water quality and treatment research programs.
- Performs on-call duties including treatment and supervision of laboratory personnel.
- Adheres to and promotes the Company safety policy and practices as it pertains to the job.
- Perform other related duties as required by supervisor.
- BS or BA degree in chemistry or biology, or related science with a minimum of three years of experience in a laboratory setting.
- Must have or be able to obtain four (4) microbiology credits from an accredited university.
- Must maintain a valid NJ Driver’s License.
- The ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with co-workers and customers including spreadsheets and word processing experience.
- Must have the ability to obtain a T-2 license within two years of the date of hire.
- Detailed oriented.
- Ability to keep neat and accurate records.
Salary and Benefits:
- Salary Range: $77,204 – $115,805 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
