Position: Entry Level-Lab Technician (Weds-Sun), Eurofins Environment Testing Northeast, Edison NJ

Job Description

Laboratory Technician I – entry level position with full benefits.

Supports laboratory operations using general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing America’s Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies.

Shift & Hours

Position is full time, Wednesday–Sunday 12:00 pm–9:00 pm.

Compensation

$17.50 per hour plus a 15% shift differential ($20.13 per hour) when on shift; includes full benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs, including:
    • Preparation of samples using standard techniques
    • Performing chemical analysis using standard techniques
    • Calculating data
    • Recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor
    • Performing routine instrument maintenance
  • Responsible for performing job functions in compliance with EHS and QA standards.
  • Responsible for general housekeeping in the work area.
  • Ability to become trained and competent on complex instrumentation including but not limited to gas chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, atomic absorption, ICP, and instrument-specific data systems.
  • Secondary Duties
  • Works under close supervision using routine and standard methods.
  • Aliquots and weighs samples.
  • Washes glassware.
  • Qualifications Requirements
    • Education: High school with chemistry coursework, basic laboratory experience.
    • Experience: Laboratory experience helpful; previous production-oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines).
    • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
    • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
    • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license without recent incident.
    • Professional working proficiency in English (read, write, speak).
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Analytical and/or general science; scientific methods and method compliance.

      • High resolution preparation and analysis
      • Low resolution preparation and analysis
    Physical Requirements
    • Lifting and Carrying: Lifting up to 50 pounds and carrying up to 30 pounds when moving samples and disposing of waste.
    • Pushing and Pulling: Pushing and pulling up to 200 pounds when moving sample carts and gas tanks.
    • Body Positions: Approximately 60% time standing when analyzing samples, 10% walking when moving around laboratory, and 30% sitting when working at computer, doing paperwork, or analyzing samples. Must be able to sit, stand, or stoop for long periods of time.
    • Body Movements: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching when getting samples and performing analyses.
    • Smelling: Ability to detect unusual odors, leakage, contamination.
    • Hand Use: Handling samples, operating instruments, data entry.
    • Hearing: Conversational hearing ability.
    • Vision: Performing analyses, viewing computer screen, doing paperwork.
    • Speaking: Conversational speaking ability.
