Entry Level-Lab Technician (Weds-Sun), Eurofins Environment Testing Northeast, Edison NJ

• Compensation: USD 17.5 - USD 18.5 - hourly

The Laboratory Technician I uses general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing America’s Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures, supporting laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies.

Looking to fill 2 positions - Weds-Sun: 7:00 am-3:30 pm and 12:00 pm-8:30 pm. Training will be Mon-Fri for a couple weeks. Compensation: $17.50/hourly plus shift differential when on shift.

• Performs routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs. These include:
  • Preparation of samples using standard techniques
  • Performing chemical analysis using standard techniques
  • Calculating data
  • Recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor
  • Performing routine instrument maintenance
• Responsible for performing job functions in compliance with EHS and QA standards
• Responsible for general housekeeping in work area
• Ability to become trained and competent on complex instrumentation including but not limited to gas chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, atomic absorption, ICP, and instrument-specific data systems.

• Works under close supervision using routine and standard methods
• Aliquots and weighs samples
• Washes glassware

• Education:
  
  High school with Chemistry coursework a must, basic laboratory experience
• Experience:
  
  Laboratory experience helpful. Previous production-oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines)
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
• Final candidates must pass a pre- employment background check and drug screen
• Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license without recent incident
• Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement
• Perform other duties as assigned

  • High Resolution preparation and analysis
  • Low Resolution preparation and analysis

• Lifting up to 50 pounds and carrying up to 30 pounds when moving samples and disposing of waste
• Pushing and pulling up to 200 pounds when moving sample carts and gas tanks
• Approximately 60% of time standing when analyzing samples, 10% walking when moving about laboratory, and 30% sitting when working at computer, doing paperwork, or analyzing samples. These percentages vary significantly depending upon duties being performed. Must be able to sit, stand, or stoop for long periods of time.
