Environmental Scientist

An established, employee-owned environmental consulting firm is hiring an Environmental Scientist to support scheduled and time-critical responses to site-related environmental issues, including disaster and emergency response, environmental investigations, and remedial alternatives analysis.

Employee ownership means a direct stake in the business, along with broad exposure across service lines and a connected team culture.

This role suits someone who is confident with air sampling and monitoring instrumentation and comfortable mobilizing quickly for field assignments nationwide.

• Calibrating, maintaining, deploying, and collecting data from handheld, portable, and transportable air sampling and monitoring devices
• Developing and implementing sampling, monitoring, and data collection plans with senior level oversight
• Collecting soil, groundwater, and surface water samples for field screening and laboratory analysis
• Responding to releases of oil and hazardous materials, providing assessment and contractor oversight
• Assisting with environmental site assessments consistent with US EPA standards
• Providing oversight and sampling during soil boring and monitoring well installation
• Overseeing remedial excavation activities, and installing and operating remediation systems including in-situ remediation
• Managing analytical data, including tabulation, QA/QC, and evaluation
• Preparing plans, maps, and boring logs, and assisting with technical reports and work plans

• B.S. degree with a minimum of 5 years of recent, relevant experience in air sampling and monitoring protocols
• Working knowledge of field instrumentation, including calibration, field implementation, and interpretation of results
• Ability to exercise judgment on methods and approaches where standard procedures fall short
• Strong technical writing skills for daily and final reports, plans, and procedures
• Availability to respond at short notice and travel for periodic field assignments nationwide
