PositionMobile Diesel Technician II
Shift7:00 am – 5:00 pm
LocationEdison, New Jersey
Duties- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, gas and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment related to electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, air conditioning, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road‑test vehicles to verify proper function.
- Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and use sound judgment to determine appropriate solutions.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on company‑issued service trucks, performing periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
- Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work‑related activities and time allocations.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work according to company standards, uploading pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) via company‑issued iOS device and TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner.
- Work independently and manage own daily schedule.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and adhere to Standard Repair Times.
- Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.
- Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates and purchase order numbers.
- Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- Maintain company‑issued service truck, conducting safety checks and daily pre/post‑trip inspections.
- High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of related experience. Candidates with a higher degree or certification and/or 5+ years of experience are also considered.
- At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
- OEM training and certifications are preferred.
- Complete all company‑required training.
- Must successfully complete and pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment (or provide a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining).
- Must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid state driver’s license, and be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
- Must be a safe driver with a clean driving record.
