Mobile Diesel Technician Level IIResponsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance (PM) inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, and diagnostic tasks on a mobile/field service truck. The Technician II will work independently while advancing advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills under supervision of a Senior Mobile Diesel Technician or higher.
Duties- Perform scheduled PM, DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles.
- Execute minor adjustments and repairs on a wide range of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engine (gas and diesel), transmission, clutch, differential, and more.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other testing instruments.
- Conduct road‑tests to confirm proper operation of vehicle systems.
- Analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and make sound judgments to resolve issues.
- Manage parts inventory on the service truck and perform periodic reconciliations.
- Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
- Communicate effectively with clients to assess needs and provide timely assistance.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage daily schedule for maximum productivity.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, and lifting devices as required.
- Document work on company Repair Orders (RO) via iOS device and the TRAIT application, including photos, parts used, and findings.
- Complete DOT forms and other documentation accurately and on time.
- Work independently while ensuring compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- High School Diploma/GE/D or equivalent. 3+ years’ related experience or a degree/certification with 5+ years of experience may also qualify.
- Provide a set of hand tools necessary for the duties.
- Achieve ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
- Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
- Provide a current DOT medical card with >4 months remaining or complete a DOT physical if less.
- Minimum age 21 due to interstate commerce regulations.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.

- Lift, bend, climb, and stand for long periods; perform moderate heavy labor.
- Maintain physical endurance during repetitive tasks.

- Select appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.
- Apply logical reasoning to evaluate solutions.
Hourly pay rate ranges from $32.07 to $48.13, depending on location, experience, and performance. The position may include additional compensation such as commission or incentive programs.
