Your ImpactPearce seeks an Experienced Critical Power Field Technician to support customers throughout Edison, NJ, and the surrounding region. The position involves preventive maintenance, emergency service, commissioning support, and battery services on UPS systems, DC power systems, battery plants, PDUs, and static transfer switches in mission‑critical environments including data centers, telecom, healthcare, and industrial sites.
Core Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on UPS systems, battery plants, DC power systems, PDUs, STS units, inverters, and related critical power equipment.
- Diagnose electrical and control system faults using schematics, test equipment, manufacturer documentation, and industry best practices.
- Install, commission, and replace UPS systems, battery strings, battery monitoring systems, maintenance bypass equipment, and associated power infrastructure.
- Respond to emergency service calls and restore customer systems to operational status while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Perform battery testing, capacity testing, failure analysis, and lifecycle replacement services.
- Complete service reports, maintenance documentation, and customer communications accurately and professionally.
- Develop strong customer relationships through technical expertise, responsiveness, and exceptional service delivery.
- Mentor junior technicians and support field training efforts by sharing troubleshooting techniques, safety practices, and technical knowledge.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, company safety procedures, and customer site requirements.
- Support additional field service activities as business demands evolve.
- 3+ years servicing UPS systems, battery systems, DC power equipment, generators, switch gear, data center infrastructure, or other mission‑critical electrical infrastructure.
- Experience with manufacturers such as Eaton, Vertiv/Liebert, Schneider Electric/APC, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, ABB, or comparable platforms.
- Strong understanding of AC and DC electrical theory, power distribution systems, and battery technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Proficient with multimeters, power quality analyzers, battery testing equipment, and diagnostic tools.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and electronic system failures independently.
- Strong customer‑facing communication skills, explaining technical findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Committed to safety, quality workmanship, and professional accountability.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the service territory, including occasional overnight travel.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Pass all required pre‑employment screenings.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or moving equipment up to 100 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, overhead reach, and work in confined or restricted areas.
- Work safely around energized equipment and within mission‑critical environments.
- Perform physically demanding work for extended periods with attention to safety.
- Manage multiple priorities in fast‑paced field environments.
- Willingness to travel within the service territory, including overnight and multi‑day travel.
- Willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance access.
Tunable compensation with a base pay range of $35,000 – $50,000 USD. Opportunities for performance and referral bonuses, tool and fuel stipends, company vehicle, per diem for qualifying travel, and professional development courses.
