Maintenance Mechanic I
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Planner, the Maintenance Mechanic I leads the safe and satisfactory completion of preventative maintenance, capital replacement, and emergency repairs at potable water treatment, booster pumping, storage, metering and well facilities. Work Performed:
- Performs daily and near-term preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Maintains and troubleshoots complex equipment including large high service pumps and motors, low service pumps and motors, chemical feed systems, heating/cooling systems, pumping systems, and basic instrumentation.
- Performs inspections of plant equipment, metering pits, and remote facilities; reports deficiencies.
- Supports scheduling of maintenance activities when directed by senior staff and verifies completion of assigned work and reports any delays.
- Responds to emergency repairs and chemical deliveries as needed.
- Assists with troubleshooting PLC issues and works with senior staff on coordination of repairs.
- Monitors contractor work for routine tasks and reports compliance issues.
- Provides assistance and training to Mechanics II and III during repairs.
- Updates asset history and maintenance records in CMMS (WACS).
- Assists in processing requisitions for materials and maintaining inventory control.
- Serves as a member of the emergency response team, requiring SCBA use.
- Assumes on-call responsibilities and works overtime as required.
- Performs all related duties as required by supervisor.
- Adheres to and promotes company safety policies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must maintain a valid NJ driver's license.
- Possession of a NJDEP Treatment Operator Level 1 License (T-1).
- Training in Confined Space Entry, Control of Hazardous Energy (LOTO), MWC qualified electrical personnel designation and 40-hour HAZWOPER.
- Must have at least six years experience in the operation and maintenance of equipment pertinent to water facility operations.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
- Good verbal communication skills with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Willingness to work outdoors and in extreme climates.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $65,586 – $81,983 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lift 100 pounds assisted and 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Work emphasizes walking, standing for extended periods of time, visual acuity, hearing, and speech.
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
