DescriptionThe Maintenance Technician 1 performs highly diversified work involving electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance of a skilled and complex nature. Installs, repairs and maintains manufacturing equipment and plant facilities necessary for the satisfactory operations of equipment and processes.
The Maintenance Technician 1 is expected to:
- Minimize downtime on equipment
- Maximize effectiveness and completion rate on PM system.
- Ensure newly maintained equipment meets 100% of general safety standards
- Diagnoses complex machine and electrical equipment malfunctions and operation difficulties and determines how to correct them checking blueprints, repair manuals or parts catalogs as necessary.
- Able to identify and coordinate improvement projects with engineers, vendors, and or contractors
- Able to interpret servo drive error codes and error messages displayed on HMIs.
- Performs routine maintenance work including inspecting drives, motors and belts, checking fluid levels and replacing filters
- Helps in the investigation of operating difficulties and assists in taking corrective action.
- Troubleshoots PLC malfunctions
- Able to research, spec out and order parts accurately for repairs and upgrades
- Diagnoses complex machine and electrical equipment malfunctions and operation difficulties and determines how to correct them checking blueprints, repair manuals or parts catalogs as necessary.
- Able to identify and coordinate improvement projects with engineers, vendors, and or contractors

- Troubleshoots PLC malfunctions
- Able to research, spec out and order parts accurately for repairs and upgrades
- Helps construct new equipment, machinery, or facilities as required.
- Sets up and operates various types of machine shop equipment.
- Reads, understands and implements electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical diagrams and schematics required to install production machinery and safety equipment.
- Assists in the maintenance of heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment.
- Performs general building maintenance and minor repairs throughout the facility including painting, carpentry, plumbing and plastering
- Works in conjunction with outside vendors
- Maintains related records, performs associated handling duties and maintains work areas in a neat and orderly manner.
- Assists in managing hazardous materials including maintaining an accurate inventory, ensuring proper storage, scheduling/documenting of hazardous waste shipments and proper disposal.
- Assists in audits for ISO 14001
This position has no talent management responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or at least 3-5 years of maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift, push, pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds alone and more than 50 pounds with assistance.
While performing this Job, the employee is regularly required to exhibit strong manual and spatial dexterity.
