Controller — Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing
Oklahoma City, OK
Hybrid
Full-Time, Direct Hire
$135,000 — $150,000 benefits
Career Staffing Talent (CST) has partnered with a high-growth advanced manufacturing company serving commercial and defense aerospace customers. Backed by multi-year government program funding and a growing commercial base, they are expanding across multiple U.S. sites — and building a finance function to match.
This is not a maintenance seat. We are hiring the person who owns the numbers.
Why this role is differentMost Controller openings are backfills. This one is a step up. We are deliberately targeting a strong Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller or existing Controller ready to take full ownership of the close, the financials, and eventually the finance function itself. You will be the senior accounting voice in the building, reporting to executive leadership with direct visibility into how a scaling manufacturer actually makes money.
If you want a title you grow into rather than one you’ve already outgrown, read on.
What you’ll own- End-to-end monthly, quarterly, and annual close — calendar, cutoffs, accruals, reconciliations, and a close you can defend line by line
- Accurate, timely, GAAP-compliant financial statements leadership can make decisions from
- Inventory, WIP, and cost accounting in a build-and-deploy environment
- Internal controls and documented processes that scale past spreadsheets
- AP, AR, payroll coordination, and cash reporting
- Audit and tax support as the external liaison
- Budget-to-actual variance analysis with real explanations, not just deltas
- Partnering with operations and engineering so job costing reflects what’s actually happening on the floor
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance
- Big Four (or large national firm) audit foundation — 2 years
- 3 years of industry accounting after public, including hands-on ownership of the monthly close
- Manufacturing or industrial experience strongly preferred (inventory, WIP, standard costing, job costing)
- Active CPA or CPA-eligible
- Demonstrated GAAP depth and comfort documenting your own conclusions
- Strong ERP and Excel capability; experience through a system implementation or migration is a plus
- Someone who catches the error before the CFO does
- Multi-entity consolidations and intercompany work
- Government contract accounting exposure (DCAA, incurred cost submissions)
- Experience in a company under 250 employees where you built rather than inherited the process
You left public accounting for industry and discovered you like owning the outcome more than reviewing it. You’re technically sharp, unbothered by close week, and tired of being three layers from the decision. You’d rather work somewhere the product is physical, the customers are named, and the revenue is contracted.
