School Secretary Position
Under the direct supervision of the principal or other school administrator, to provide clerical, secretarial and administrative assistance to school administrators at a school site, conveying information regarding school functions and procedures; and supporting the broad array of services provided to students, parents, instructional and support employees; and to coordinate work of other school clerical employees. Essential functions include composing documents, maintaining calendars, assisting in planning and scheduling school events, maintaining documents, preparing purchase orders, maintaining inventories, assisting visitors, answering telephone calls, distributing mail, scheduling appointments, evaluating situations, registering new students, responding to inquiries, serving as liaison with outside organizations, and supporting, guiding, leading, training and coordinating work of school clerical employees.
Additional duties may include other related tasks as assigned. The position requires the use of standard office equipment and may involve limited travel. Knowledge, skills and abilities include problem solving, working with diverse groups, processing paperwork accurately, maintaining confidentiality, and organizational and time management skills. The qualification profile includes education and experience in office management.
