Position SummaryAre you a creative thinker with a passion for digital storytelling, marketing and community engagement? The Oklahoma State Treasurer’s Office is seeking a Media Specialist to help shape our online presence and inform Oklahomans about financial programs, resources, and opportunities that impact their lives. This role combines strategy, creativity and technical skills to deliver compelling content that educates and engages audiences across social media platforms and the web.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced environment, understands the importance of transparency and public service, and can translate complex topics into engaging, accessible content for the public.
Responsibilities- Social Media Strategy & Execution:
- Plan and schedule content across multiple platforms (Facebook, X, Linked In, Instagram, You Tube) to maintain a consistent posting cadence.
- Engage with the public by responding to comments, messages and questions in a timely, professional manner.
- Monitor social media channels for public sentiment and issues relevant to the Treasurer’s Office.
- Develop and launch a You Tube content strategy to expand public access to educational videos and informational content.
- Evaluate the performance of social media content using analytics tools and recommend improvements based on data.
- Content Creation:
- Develop high‑quality content (graphics, videos, written materials) that aligns with the agency’s mission and strategic goals.
- Design and produce visual assets to enhance the public’s understanding of programs, services and state initiatives.
- Track trends in digital media, public finance and government transparency to create relevant, timely content.
- Create video content (short‑form and long‑form) for web and social platforms, ensuring accessibility standards are met.
- Support marketing campaigns promoting state programs by preparing messaging that increases awareness, encourages participation and coordinates across channels.
- Website Management:
- Post timely updates to the agency website, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
- Conduct regular website cleanup to maintain user‑friendly navigation and compliance with standards.
- Implement and manage new content sections.
- Support and promote webinars and online learning initiatives.
- Required:
- Demonstrated experience creating content for various social media platforms, with a portfolio or work samples.
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
- Proficiency in visual storytelling, graphic design and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Understanding of social media trends, audience engagement strategies, marketing and digital best practices.
- Familiarity with content scheduling tools (e.g., Sprout, Hootsuite) and basic video editing.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Preferred:
- 1‑3 years of experience in digital communications, marketing or content creation.
- Experience in public sector communications, financial literacy or civic engagement is a plus.
- Knowledge of website CMS (e.g., Word Press) and basic HTML/CSS.
- Ability to analyze data and adjust strategies to improve performance.
