Position Overview This is a regular student technical position in which the student will assist staff or faculty with supporting the department by performing customer service-related duties in an office setting. Duties may include but are not limited to setting up, picking up, and checking-in items for classes, typing, filing, answering telephones, providing customer service, scheduling appointments, and utilizing Microsoft Office experience.

The student may also be requested to set up audio/visual equipment, PowerPoint presentations, and/or computers for staff, faculty or students. The department may choose to hire a student eligible for the Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) award, however, that is not required to fill this position.

Hours per Week
20 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Flexibility offered.

College/Department Overview The Office of Information Technology (OIT) at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) strives to enhance learning, improve service and communication, and increase student, faculty, staff, and community access to useful information through the application of technology. Information Technology at UCO provides computing, networking, e-learning, telephone, training, and support services to students, faculty, staff and the University community.

Department Specific Job Functions The student worker is responsible for providing customer service to the UCO community via phone, email, online portal, and in-person. Duties include answering phones, troubleshooting computer-related issues, documenting incidents/requests, application support, and more. Additionally, the student worker will be responsible for pickup/delivery, imaging/setup of end user technology resources. The student worker will be expected to trouble shoot client incidents reported/assigned through Team Dynamix, and will communicate with clients and OIT staff using Outlook and the Microsoft Teams app.

Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

Enrollment Requirements Fall/Spring Semesters:
All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. F1/J1 Visa students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.

Summer Semester:
To work in a regular student position during the summer semester, students must be enrolled in at least 3 summer credit hours or be enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in the minimum credit hours required for their classification and employment type. Students enrolled in fewer than 3 summer credit hours will be subject to FICA taxes during the summer term, which apply to both the student and the department.

For Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) positions, students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (graduate).

Note:

New incoming students are not eligible for student employment until the semester in which they begin classes.

Enrollment Exception:
If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. This pertains to both regular and Federal Work Study Program positions.

Qualifications/Experience Required Must be able to work across multiple areas throughout UCO campus as necessary.

Experience working with Windows, Macintosh, iPhones, and Android devices.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred Seeking energetic team players who are able to function in a fast-paced environment.

A high level of technical skill is not required, but the department prefers candidates who understand the basics of troubleshooting and are able to intelligently work with clients on various issues.

Preference will be given to Computer Science majors.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Excellent oral and digital communication skills.
