The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 135 full‑time and over 70 part‑time faculty in seven academic departments. It serves more than 3,300 undergraduate students across 27 majors and offers graduate programs in biology, Applied Mathematical Science, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Computational Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, and Nursing. Accreditation/Certification is held by ABET, the Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society.

Note:
Adjunct positions at UCO are part‑time teaching positions. This posting is to create a pool of interested applicants from which the Department may draw as sections become open at any point in the current academic year. This posting may or may not result in the hiring of adjuncts. Adjunct faculty provide a quality learning experience for students on a semester basis.
Adjunct faculty report to a dean or chair and perform instruction‑related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the college. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning.
Duties include teaching day/evening undergraduate courses in:
- General Biology
- Botany
- Zoology
- Biological and Medical Terminology
- Cell Biology
- Microbiology
- Human Anatomy
- Physiology
- Ecology
- Evolution
- and/or Genetics, depending on departmental needs.
- At least a master’s degree in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Master’s degree in Biology or a related field.
- Doctorate and higher‑education teaching experience.
- Proficiency teaching day/evening undergraduate courses in General Biology, Botany, Zoology, and related life‑science courses.
