Vocal Music Teacher (Grades 4–12)

Position Title: Vocal Music Teacher Reports To: Campus Principals

Site Assignments: Pauls Valley Intermediate School, Pauls Valley Junior High, Pauls Valley High School School Year: 2026–2027 Employment Type: Full-Time, Certified

Position Overview

Pauls Valley Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and highly skilled Vocal Music Teacher to lead and develop the vocal music program for students in grades 4–12. This role includes directing choral ensembles at the Intermediate, Junior High, and High School levels, fostering a strong music culture, and inspiring students to grow as vocal performers and musicians.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about choral music, committed to student growth, and eager to collaborate with district staff to build a cohesive and vertically aligned vocal music program.

Responsibilities
Instructional Duties
  • Teach vocal music classes for students in grades 4–12 across Pauls Valley Intermediate, Junior High, and High School.
  • Develop age-appropriate curriculum, lessons, and performance repertoire aligned with Oklahoma Academic Standards for Fine Arts.
  • Promote musical literacy, healthy vocal technique, and performance skills.
  • Prepare students for concerts, festivals, district contests, and community performances.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the district’s 4–12 vocal music program.
  • Collaborate with site principals and district leadership to strengthen the program and expand student participation.
  • Maintain and organize program materials, including sheet music, equipment, and performance uniforms.
Event & Performance Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and conduct seasonal concerts and school performances.
  • Coordinate student participation in honor choirs, OSSAA events, and other enrichment opportunities.
  • Communicate performance expectations and schedules with students, parents, and administrators.
Professional Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across campuses to support fine arts and interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, guardians, and community stakeholders.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the district’s fine arts programs.
Additional Duties
  • Manage classroom and rehearsal spaces to ensure a positive, productive learning environment.
  • Uphold district policies and procedures, including student supervision and safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by site principals or district administration.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field.
  • Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Vocal/Choral Music (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
  • Strong background in vocal pedagogy, choral conducting, and music literacy.
Preferred
  • Experience teaching or directing multi-level vocal ensembles.
  • Knowledge of OSSAA contest requirements and performance standards.
  • Piano proficiency and ability to accompany students during rehearsal.
