Position: English - Full-Time, Non-Tenure Track Lecturer

Position Overview

Teaches, advises, and mentors students; evaluates student performance; and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested.

College/Department Overview

The College of Liberal Arts currently has 130 full-time and 82 part-time faculty in 8 academic departments. The College serves the University's Core Curriculum programs and enrolls more than 2,850 undergraduate students and more than 300 graduate students in 34 undergraduate and 17 graduate majors.

Position Announcement

The Department of English seeks a One-Year, Full-Time Lecturer for . The Department of English at the University of Central Oklahoma is committed to recruiting and maintaining a diverse faculty and to creating a welcoming environment for all.

Duties And Responsibilities

The teaching load is 15 credit‑hours (typically five 3‑credit courses or a combination of paired 3‑credit courses and 2‑credit developmental courses) per semester. Primary teaching responsibilities could include Developmental English and First‑Year Composition as well as concurrent sections of First‑Year Composition taught off‑site in local high schools; courses in other areas may be assigned as departmental need requires.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

An M.A. or MFA in English or a closely related field and a commitment to high‑quality teaching. Preferred:
Preference will be given to applicants whose degree is in Composition and/or Rhetoric or a related field and who have at least two years of experience teaching First‑Year Composition in a college or university setting.
