Position Summary Overview

Position Summary:

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Central Oklahoma invites applications for a full‑time, non‑tenure track Lecturer starting August 3, 2026. The Lecturer provides a quality learning experience for students. The role includes instruction‑related duties and responsibilities carried out in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The lecturer functions as a teacher and facilitator of learning, teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies.

The lecturer adheres to the educational philosophy of the university, collaborates with colleagues and professional peers, participates in university meetings related to faculty, serves on department, college, and university committees as requested, and prepares departmental reports as requested.

Department

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Teach day/evening introductory mathematics courses such as Mathematics for General Education, Applied Algebra, and Plane Trigonometry. Service responsibilities may include coordinating drill sessions for Calculus 1.

Required Qualifications

Teaching and departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned master’s degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). The candidate possesses excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience in mathematics or statistics is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and staff. Reports to the Chair of the Department and the Dean of the College.
