Position Overview
Teaching Assistant (TA) position will assist faculty members in a variety of ways: covering classes and providing in‑class critique, lecturing when competent, tutoring students who need additional help, assisting faculty with class preparation (including library research, internet searches, and PowerPoint presentations), record‑keeping, supervised grading of assignments, and other duties as deemed necessary or required.
Skills- Instructing – teaching others how to do something.
- Speaking – conveying information effectively.
- Critical Thinking – using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
- Reading Comprehension – understanding written sentences and paragraphs.
- Active Listening – giving full attention and understanding points being made.
5–20 hours per week, Monday–Friday.
Assistantship Types- One‑quarter time assistantship – 5 hours per week.
- One‑half time assistantship – 10 hours per week.
- Three‑quarter time assistantship – 15 hours per week.
- Full‑time assistantship – 20 hours per week.
Applicants must be admitted to the MFA Design program.
Preference will be given to applicants who have completed 9 credit hours of graduate coursework in Design and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
