Position Overview
This is a Teaching Assistant (TA) position in the Kinesiology and Health Studies Department, which will assist faculty members in the Exercise Physiology Lab and lab‑related classes. Partial tuition waiver.
Hours per Week20 hours per week.
Department Specific Job Functions- Cover classes or proctor exams
- Lecture in areas where the student is deemed competent
- Potentially tutor in classes within the student’s discipline
- Assist faculty with class preparation (library research, internet searches, PowerPoint presentations)
- Record keeping and supervised grading of exams and assignments
- Assist with group study sessions as needed
- Other duties/responsibilities as deemed necessary or required
Fall/Spring Semesters:
All student employees must be enrolled at least half‑time to be eligible. Half‑time: 5 credit hours (graduate) or 6 (undergraduate). International students must be full‑time (9 graduate, 12 undergrad).
Summer Semester:
Regular student positions require at least 3 credit hours. Federal Work Study positions require minimum 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 (graduate). Students not enrolled in summer must be enrolled in fall classes and will pay FICA taxes. If fewer credit hours are needed to graduate, obtain a letter from the Academic Advisor and submit to HR.
The department intends to hire a graduate student in Kinesiology, majoring in Wellness Management, Exercise Science, or Public Health.
