Job Goal:
To assist teachers and students in the effective use of the Media Center as a learning resource.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists in ordering supplies for the purpose of ensuring availability as needed. Assists in processing student 's, passwords, notices of missing, damaged, or overdue library books, media and materials for the purpose of providing and/or maintaining access to library resources and securing reimbursement for losses.
2. Assists teachers, students and administrators for the purpose of identifying resource materials for use in classroom and/or class assignments.
3. Duplicates and works with media and instructional materials (as allowed by copyright) for the purpose of maintaining an appropriate inventory for internal distribution.
4. Assist with Book Fairs, Author Visits and other related media events.
5. Assist in evaluating books, media and/or periodicals for retention within collection (e.g. repairing damaged books, media, periodicals, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of books and library materials under the direction of the Media Specialist.
6. Maintains materials inventory and equipment (e.g. library books, library hardware/software, audio books, media equipment, library media computers, library media printers, magazines, newspapers, and related instructional materials, etc.) for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and ensuring the availability of materials and equipment when required.
7. Monitors parent volunteers, student volunteers, student activities and technology use for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment and continuation of learning.
8. Operates a variety of media equipment and computer management systems (e.g. media computers, printers, CD;s, DVDs, etc.) for the purpose of providing library media services to students and staff.
9. Participates in workshops, in-service training, meetings, etc. for gathering information required to perform functions.
10. Performs circulation activities (e.g. item check-in and check-out, lists of overdue items, etc.) for the purpose of controlling the use, location and availability of items in the collection.
11. Prepares manual and electronic documents and reports (e.g. collection statistics, scheduling reports/requests, work orders, overdue lists, fines, costs, etc.) for the purpose of providing documentation and information to others.
12. Processes library books, periodicals, software and related media materials. (e.g. logging into master files, barcoding, shelving, producing required reports, etc.) for the purpose of providing students and staff with required materials.
13. Assists the media specialist in their role as Resource Manager to manage wireless devices at the site.
14. Other duties as assigned.
Length of
Contract:
One hundred seventy-five (175) contract days.
Salary commensurate with experience on the negotiated agreement of the Support Employees of Edmond (SEE).
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Principal in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policies, state law, and the negotiated agreement with the Support Employees of Edmond (SEE).

EDUCATION AND/OR
EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to plan budgets and use the mathematical skills required to do so. Maintain accurate records and support documentation for projects under the supervision of the position.
REASONING
SKILLS:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
