Position Overview
This is an off‑campus, Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) student clerical position in which the student will perform computer and customer service‑related duties in an office setting at OU Health/University of Oklahoma Medical Center Downtown Campus Adult Towers.
Hours per Week20–25 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. (located off‑campus).
Off‑Campus Company OverviewOU Health/University of Oklahoma Medical Center Downtown Campus Adult Towers is a non‑profit, 501(c)3 organization that provides support and non‑clinical care to patients and families at OU Medical Center through compassion, quality care, and teamwork.
Department Specific Job FunctionsThe candidate will assist with office duties that include computer skills such as email, Excel, Word, and the ability to manipulate software pertaining to the volunteer tracking system. The candidate will perform tasks as necessary to fulfill staff, patient, and guest quality experience.
Enrollment Requirements – Fall/Spring SemestersAll student employees must be enrolled at least half‑time to be eligible to work a UCO student position. Half‑time enrollment for fall/spring is 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled full‑time (9 credit hours for graduates, 12 for undergraduates). Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes to work during the summer, but may be required to pay FICA taxes.
EnrollmentRequirements – Summer Semester
Students in regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours. For FWSP positions, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (undergraduates) or 5 credit hours (graduates). Enrollment exceptions apply if the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum; a letter from the Academic Advisor is required.
Enrollment ExceptionIf the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from the Academic Advisor stating the number of hours needed and the anticipated graduation date. Submit the letter to Human Resources.
FWSP RequirementsTo be considered for FWSP employment, the student must be awarded work study through the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships. The summer FWSP award is a separate application process and is not included with the fall/spring award. Enrollment requirements are the same each semester: undergraduates must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours; graduates a minimum of 5 credit hours.
Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesThe candidate must have an outgoing personality, flexibility, vision of small computer screens or tablets, and excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate should demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, be a team‑player in a professional office setting, possess sensitivity to intercultural communication, good interpersonal skills, initiative, detail orientation, dependability, and thoroughness.
