Job Title: Long Term PE Substitute Teacher

Reports To: Principal / Assistant Principal

Job Summary:

The Substitute Teacher is responsible for carrying out lesson plans, maintaining classroom management, and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The Substitute Teacher supports student learning, communicates effectively with students and staff, and upholds school policies and procedures while providing continuity of instruction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher.
• Maintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environment.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with students to explain assignments, expectations, and instructions.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills with students, staff, and administrators.
• Take attendance according to school procedures.
• Follow established classroom routines and school policies.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and other assigned areas.
• Communicate professionally with school staff regarding student behavior, progress, or concerns.
• Provide a written summary of the day's activities for the regular teacher.
• Adapt to different grade levels, subject areas, and classroom settings as needed.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required;
  Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred (or as required by state regulations).
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to clearly present information and respond to questions from students and staff.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Flexibility and adaptability.
• Attend mandatory Substitute Training. Dates are available on the Deer Creek Website.
• Complete required Vector training
• Complete required OSBI Fingerprint Background Clearance.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and move around the classroom for extended periods.
• Ability to supervise students in various school environments.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment:

• School setting (elementary, middle, or high school).
• Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and quick decision-making.
