College/Department Overview:The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 127 full-timeand over 70 part-time faculty in 5 academic departments and the Schools of Engineering and Nursing. The College serves more than3,300 undergraduate students in 30 majors and provides graduate programs in Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity,Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Applied Mathematical Science, Engineering, Computational Science, and Nursing.
Accreditation/Certification is held by ABET, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Biology Department has a strong commitment to undergraduate andgraduate education through transformative learning and research.
The department is seeking an Assistant Professor in Biology who is committed to excellence in teaching and collaborativestudent-centered research. Primary areas of teaching responsibility include undergraduate and graduate physiology courses, majors andnonmajors introductory biology courses, and other courses asneeded. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching and research expertise in ichthyology, aquatic physiology, aquaticecology, or fisheries biology.
Education required:
Ph.D. in Biology or related field required; ABD considered (Ph.D.must be completed by June 2027). Demonstrable oral and written communication skills required.
Experience/education preferred:Experience teaching and directing research at the undergraduate andgraduate levels preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and staff.
Reports to the Chair of the Department and the Dean of the College.
