Job Description Summary
Field Engineer I performs on‑time and accurate preventive maintenance in one or more modalities of equipment. The FE1 follows all Field Modification Instructions and/or Instrument Service Information bulletins. Working with experienced field engineers, both onsite and remotely, the candidate learns troubleshooting, repair, and equipment installation techniques while driving customer satisfaction through service excellence.
Location:
Wichita, KS or Tulsa, OK (relocation available). The role focuses on monitoring and telemetry. It is 1st shift the first year and moves to 2nd shift the following year.
- Perform on‑time and accurate preventive maintenance, FMIs, and/or ISIs.
- Assist experienced field engineers with equipment installation.
- Work with experienced field engineers on basic troubleshooting and service repair needs on designated equipment.
- Communicate and partner with teammates and colleagues effectively.
- Communicate with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow‑up, leading to customer satisfaction.
- Recommend value‑added services to help the customer run their business more efficiently.
- Maintain customer service logs and internal service records, order repair parts, and manage cycle times.
- Utilize the GEHC escalation process as needed and work closely with regional and national support to define and implement corrective action plans.
- Serve as a member of the account community for key accounts.
- Engage commercial counterparts, identify potential sales leads, participate in sales opportunities (e.g., contract renewals), and assist with promoting revenue programs.
- Build and enhance relationships with customers to become a perceived partner in their business.
- Stay up to date with competitor information and market trends.
- Answer service calls independently within one year of employment.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; or equivalent military education; or participation in GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program; or High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of experience servicing electronic equipment.
- Experience with web applications and Microsoft Office suite.
- Comply with GEHC’s background check and post‑offer drug test, as well as customer access policies (immunizations, additional drug tests, federal background checks if applicable).
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted; bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods; reach at, above, and below shoulder level; flex/extend neck; and have good hand and finger dexterity.
- Specific vision abilities required include color, close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to work after hours or on a rotating on‑call schedule, including weekends, for critical issues.
