Brief Description

POSITION SUMMARY: This role will lead an Engineering Product Team responsible for design, development, implementation and maintenance of residential and commercial HVAC products that meet or exceed best‑in‑class performance and reliability targets across multiple platforms and product families, as well as manufacturing support for existing products.

Essential Functions
  • Lead multiple New Product Development (NPD), sustaining and special engineering projects throughout the complete product development cycle.
  • Lead design, optimization and qualification of HVAC systems employing advanced analytical methods and experimental techniques.
  • Assume ownership for maintenance and updates for engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
  • Document product designs by preparing bills of material, drawings and product change notifications.
  • Manage product qualification and agency compliance test programs.
  • Assume responsibility for reliability growth and productivity improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct analytical studies employing state‑of‑the‑art simulation tools.
  • Ensure design quality, supporting your calculations and design proposals.
  • Support manufacturing, sales & marketing, quality, technical services and supply chain functions.
  • Interface with vendors, customers and field personnel.
  • Manage, mentor and develop the engineering team and technical personnel.
  • Conduct presentations for technical and business personnel.
  • Participate in regulatory committees for equipment and system level applications.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work assignments; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing concerns and resolving problems.

  • Problem Solving/Analysis — Leads the identification of problem statements and generates new and unique solutions. Connects unrelated topics and solutions to introduce new ideas. Analyzes broad, often ambiguous and unrelated data; leveraging tools to draw conclusions. Translates conceptual engineering designs into tangible solutions; leveraging an appropriate level of risk in creating new designs and processes.
  • Communication/Interpersonal Skills — Strategic communicator. Able to articulate and manage expectations across various levels within and beyond the engineering department. Speaks to and for the business unit. Can represent the organization in for company‑wide goals and initiatives. Ability to influence with both direct and indirect authority internally and externally.
  • Leadership & Initiative — Is a group leader in the department that exhibits business unit influence. Guides and trains less experienced engineers. Provides coaching and empowers others. Able to resolve conflict amongst team members and peers. Assignments are self‑initiated or developed from strategic plans. Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Technical Knowledge & Planning — Demonstrates technical expertise over multiple generations of products. Assists the technical leadership roles on project teams. Will lead efforts to write system specifications based on a multi‑generational view of the technology roadmap. Develops business unit product families, systems and component roadmaps based on multi‑year strategies. Is the expert in the area of focus within the team and throughout the company and industry.

    Responsible for adherence to financial budgets on planned projects.
  • Business Knowledge — Translates industry and market knowledge to customer base, channel strategy and go‑to‑market strategy. Evaluates customer needs and determines solutions that align with the business strategy. Creates competitive advantages by collaborating across business functions, using knowledge of customer base, product application and the competitive landscape. Incorporates latest technologies and applications for components into solutions. Able to work with partners to influence and improve the supply chain.
