Position: Mitchell Hall Student Assistant (Technical) - University Productions

Position Overview

This is a regular student technical position in which the student will work as a Scene Shop, Costume Shop, Lighting Shop, Sound Shop, or Mitchell Hall Stage Crew student assistant.

Hours per Week

6-20 hours per week.

College/Department Overview

Mitchell Hall Theatre showcases the Theatre, Musical Theatre, Dance, Opera, and Vocal and Instrumental Music performances for the College of Fine Arts and Design.

Department Specific Job Functions

Student employees support various production aspects through their work in the Scene Shop, Costume Shop, Lighting Shop, Sound Shop, and as part of the Stage Crew. They assist with set construction, costume preparation, lighting and sound setup, and backstage operations, ensuring the smooth execution of theatre productions. These roles provide hands‑on experience in theatre production and technical skills development.

Enrollment Requirements
  • Fall/Spring semesters:
    All student employees must be enrolled at least half‑time (5 hours for graduates, 6 hours for undergraduates). International students must be full‑time (9 credit hours for graduates, 12 for undergraduates).
  • Summer semester:
    Students working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes. Students in FWSP positions must have a minimum of 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 (graduate).
  • Enrollment Exception:
    If the required credit hours to graduate fall below the minimum for employment, obtain a letter from the Academic Advisor and submit it to Human Resources.
