NVI: Waste Management & Recycling Instructor

Job Overview

Responsible for providing supervision to prisoners in waste management and recycling environments, transferring necessary skills to ensure safe waste collection and appropriate disposal. Work closely with Specialist Production Instructor to advise on waste/recycling practices, legislation, and compliance with circular economy, data submissions, and training.

• Supervise prisoners within waste management units, ensuring safe and effective waste collection and disposal.
• Transfer knowledge and skills to prisoners for safe operation of waste collection equipment.
• Advise the establishment on waste/recycling practices, legislation, and disposal requirements.
• Assist with input of supportive statements into assessments of prisoners pursuing qualifications.
• Manage workshop and prisoner activities as part of the role.

Experience in waste management or recycling environments is desirable. Ability to communicate effectively and influence prisoner behavior. No line management responsibilities but workshop and prisoner management duties. None specified for qualifications but adept at training and safety standards.

Permanent, unrotational, with flexible working options (Hybrid Working supported where feasible) within the UK. 37 hours per week, with part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing arrangements permitted.
