Pharmacy Financial Coordinator – Prior Authorizations

Edmond, OK | Full-Time | $20-$26/hour DOE |

Schedule:

Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Friday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Are you an experienced pharmacy professional who enjoys helping patients navigate insurance approvals and access the medications they need? We are seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacy Financial Coordinator to join a fast-paced specialty clinic team focused on exceptional patient care, collaboration, and support. This role is ideal for someone with prior authorization, pharmacy billing, or specialty pharmacy experience who thrives in a patient-focused environment.

Must-Have

Requirements
  • Oklahoma Pharmacy Technician license required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of Pharmacy Technician experience preferred
  • Experience with pharmacy billing, insurance, prior authorizations, or medical billing preferred
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial PBMs, and insurance formularies
  • Experience with Cover My Meds , EHR systems, and Microsoft Office preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced medical environment
  • Specialty pharmacy experience preferred
Position Summary

The Pharmacy Financial Coordinator is responsible for reviewing prescription eligibility and benefits, obtaining medication prior authorizations, assisting patients with financial coordination needs, and supporting medication access for specialty therapies. This role works closely with providers, clinic staff, insurance companies, pharmacies, and patients to ensure medications are approved, processed, and successfully obtained by the patient. The ideal candidate is proactive, compassionate, organized, and committed to delivering excellent patient support.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Verify prescription benefits, eligibility, and insurance coverage
  • Submit and follow up on medication prior authorizations in a timely manner
  • Reprocess insurance claims for medications when needed
  • Communicate authorization status, outcomes, and medication updates to patients
  • Assist patients with copay assistance and financial coordination resources
  • Research PBM guidelines, insurance formularies, and step therapy requirements
  • Resolve issues preventing patients from obtaining prescribed medications
  • Coordinate with providers, pharmacies, and clinic staff regarding medication approvals and fulfillment
  • Answer incoming calls and return voicemails promptly
  • Manage assigned tasks and workflow within the Electronic Health Record system
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times
  • Follow clinic policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines
  • Support coworkers and contribute to a positive team environment
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and patient care
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by administration
Additional Qualifications
  • Knowledge of pharmacy claim rejections and insurance authorization processes
  • Knowledge of prescription medications, FDA-approved uses, and dosage guidelines
  • Knowledge of Oklahoma State Pharmacy Board rules and regulations
  • Ability to recognize, evaluate, and correct errors efficiently
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to type at least 50 words per minute
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Daily standing, walking, bending, and maneuvering may be required
  • Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards
  • Travel may occasionally be required
