Mammographer
- Breast Health Network - PRN
- Northwest

The Mammographer PRN provides specialized breast imaging services to OU Health patients to aid Providers in the diagnosis, care, treatment and surveillance of breast conditions, defects and/or diseases. Work is typically performed in outpatient environments across OU Health locations.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, performs diagnostic imaging on patients as ordered by a care provider.
  • Ensures testing is performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient-centric care.
  • Prepares patients for procedures and reviews clinical history to align with provider-ordered tests.
  • Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
  • Collaborates with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Utilizes a variety of highly specialized mammography equipment and techniques to perform diagnostic procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.
  • Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards.
  • Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician.
  • Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensures that technical quality of testing meets established protocols and applicable accreditation standards.
  • Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as requested.
  • May support OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.
  • May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members.
  • Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available.
General Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Graduate of an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARRT.
  • Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
  • Experience:

    At least 1 year of experience as a Mammographer required.
  • License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s)

    Required:

    Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • ARRT(RT)(M) required.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Solid knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, mammography principles and radiologic terminology. Applies core-level primary specialty theory and techniques to independently perform mammography exams, complete post-processing and image analysis, and accurately annotate study data and procedure documentation with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to prioritize and independently complete clinical and non-clinical work assignments with limited direction.
  • Communicates effectively through verbal and written means to convey accurate, timely information and collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Ability to prioritize and independently complete clinical and non-clinical work assignments with limited direction, applying sound judgment to manage workload, competing priorities, and changing demands.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in stressful situations, independently adjusting priorities and maintaining focus in fast-paced or changing environments.
