These positions are available in levels 1-3 based on experience, education, and/or certification and licensure

General Description

The MRI Technologist I position is an entry level role that, under direct supervision, performs routine MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols, safety guidelines, and quality standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Utilizing core knowledge, skills, abilities, and available resources, provides safe, high‑quality, efficient, and patient‑centered care and support services under routine or emergent conditions. Care is delivered under appropriate supervision across a variety of settings.
  • Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with physician‑ordered exams to support appropriate imaging.
  • Safely administers contrast per protocol.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize basic imaging artifacts and implement corrective measures independently or under guidance.
  • Effectively communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and the care team to support desired clinical outcomes and service standards.
  • Accurately transfers images and associated data to designated systems, completes basic technical documentation, and prepares studies for physician reporting.
  • Carries out operator‑level quality control checks, cleaning, high‑level disinfection, and basic equipment maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory requirements.
  • Accurately document in EMR/PACS.
  • Actively participates in continuing education, professional development, and research initiatives to maintain competencies and advance quality of care and treatment practices.
  • Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available.
Cardiac MRI Responsibilities
  • Acquire standard cardiac imaging sequences including LV function imaging, short‑axis cine stacks, basic morphology and functional assessments.
  • Apply ECG gating techniques including retrospective gating, prospective gating, real‑time imaging as indicated.
  • Troubleshoot basic ECG signal issues.
  • Recognize common rhythm patterns.
General Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Level
1)

Education: Graduate of an accredited imaging, radiology or nuclear medicine program as defined by ARRT or ARMRIT or Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.

Experience: 0-3 years experience.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s)

Required:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). ARRT(RT) or ARMRIT certification required within 12 months of hire.

Minimum Qualifications (Level
2)

Education: Associate's Degree required.

Experience: 3‑5 years of MRI experience required.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s)

Required:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) and ARRT (RT)(MR) or ARMRIT certification is required upon hire.

Minimum Qualifications (Level
3)

Education: Associate's Degree required.

Experience: 5 or more years of MRI experience required.
