Job Purpose: The Custodian performs assigned custodial tasks at the job location, including general cleaning (restrooms, offices, cafeteria, sales floor, and others as assigned), buffing, scrubbing, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and use of equipment such as scrubbers, extractors, and buffers.

• Performs all general required tasks as directed by Lead Custodian or Supervisor
• Uses floor machines for buffing, stripping, waxing, vacuuming and carpet cleaning safely, according to proper usage and schedule
• Follows safety guidelines, company guidelines, and management directions
• Follows company policies on safety, customer service, attire, and working conditions
• Performs assignments according to schedule and customer expectations
• Wears uniform at worksites
• Performs custodial tasks per defined scope of work and customer requests, on published schedules
• Restroom and surface cleaning tasks listed: empty wastebaskets, dust, vacuum, spot clean, sanitize toilets/basins/urinals, clean counters/mirrors/fixtures, mop floors, spot clean walls, refill dispensers, wipe surfaces, clean vending machines
• Work shifts may include nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays
• Follows oral and written instructions; works independently or as part of a team; attends periodic training and safety meetings

• Prefer a high school diploma or equivalent plus 1–2 years of custodial/janitorial/cleaning experience
• Basic knowledge of custodial duties and janitorial responsibilities
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment and processes; safe operation of floor machines; cleaning and sanitizing washrooms
• Able to read, understand, and follow units of measure on product labels
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and ability to follow safety rules

• Required:
  
  Effective communication, ability to follow directions, maintain personal appearance/hygiene per guidelines
• Preferred:
  Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized manner; compliance with company guidelines and regulations

• Read and communicate in English
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds; repetitive motions; operate small power tools
• Stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, reaching into areas not fully air conditioned
• Stand and walk for extended periods; climb stairs and ladders as needed
• Work independently; maintain regular attendance
• Occasional local travel (approx. 10%)
