8063 - Material Handler

Material Handlers are responsible for receiving, processing, stocking, selecting, moving, and loading by hand or powered industrial equipment, manufactured goods received by the distribution center in preparation for shipment to customers.

DUTIES MATERIAL HANDLING
  • Grasp and lift by hand (floor to overhead) and carry heavy and/or bulk merchandise.
  • Use and verify accuracy via Laser Radio Terminal (LRT) or tablet to receive, process, stock, and select merchandise for shipment and audit (1) the quality of work performed within the distribution center, and (2) location counts.
  • Operate distribution computer systems as required to efficiently control merchandise flow.
  • Safely operate industrial lift trucks and other motorized and non‑motorized equipment to unload trailers, transport, select, stock, and load heavy/large merchandise onto trailers for shipment to customers.
  • Place/remove by hand selected merchandise onto/from conveyors, racks, pallets, and into/out of boxes as merchandise is processed.
  • Load and unload trailers by hand, floor to ceiling.
  • Meet safety, accuracy, and production standards for all assignments.
  • Observe and follow established processes for incoming and outgoing merchandise for shortages, overages, defects and damage.
  • Handle merchandise without damaging it during processing.
  • Maintains assigned work area free of debris and spills using standard cleaning supplies.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attending team and department meetings as required.
  • Immediately report any unsafe working conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Remains familiar and compliant with all Company policies and procedures in the performance of job duties and regarding individual activities and behaviors.
  • Maintains acceptable attendance in accordance with Company policies and departmental standards.
  • Conducts self in a professional, courteous, respectful and friendly manner at all times when interacting with coworkers, clients or vendors.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Expected to maintain 100% inventory accuracy.
  • If goals and objectives are not met in the designated time, re‑evaluation and discipline up to and including termination may occur.
  • Comply with the Company’s performance criteria and standards of conduct including acceptable attendance in accordance with company’s attendance policy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping. Frequently reaching overhead with arms and hands. Feeling, grasping, and repetitive wrist movement is required. Requires normal range of hearing and requires being able to see small writing at a limited distance.
  • Ability to climb and descend ladders frequently. Subject to cold and hot temperatures.
  • This is a high stress and fast paced environment.
  • Ability to move and handle merchandise weighing 0‑125lbs. Ability to lift up to 50lbs, and up to 125lbs with assistance.
SHIFT REQUIREMENTS
  • Occasionally the Company requires employees to work beyond assigned shift times or to work hours outside of their assigned shift times. This includes the requirement to work weekends and holidays. By signing below, Employees understand that while they have assigned shifts, they are expected to work any assigned mandatory overtime or additional shifts as required by management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
SKILLS & CERTIFICATION Skills
  • Ability to excel in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to read, count and write in English.
