The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Step-Down patients with cardiac, respiratory, and medical-surgical conditions. This role involves monitoring telemetry, administering medications and therapies, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring accurate documentation in compliance with hospital policies and patient safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to PCU/Step-Down patients with complex conditions
- Monitor cardiac telemetry, vital signs, and patient responses to treatment
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments as ordered
- Assess patient conditions and promptly report changes to the healthcare team
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop care plans
- Educate patients and families on medications, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Float to medical-surgical units as needed and manage appropriate patient assignments
- Maintain EMR documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies
- Respond to rapid changes in patient condition and participate in emergency interventions
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
