The role provides operational supervision of campus workflow and resource utilization during an assigned night shift. This part‑time position is 24hours per week (2x12 hours). Shifts may occur on any day of the week, with rotations on every third weekend and every third holiday. Responsibilities include attending huddles, assisting staff, managing staffing needs, addressing and escalating concerns, overseeing shift operations, ensuring meal breaks, and completing critical equipment checks.
The individual serves as a house supervisor for Med‑Surg, WIS, and ED in a rural setting and has opportunities to develop leadership experience.
- Assess overall staffing effectiveness and ensure adequate throughput by maintaining suitable staff numbers, competency, and skill mix based on census and acuity.
- Respond to and assess all codes and crisis situations, implement plans, and evaluate response, understanding the chain of command.
- Serve as a professional resource to patients, families, physicians, and staff by prioritizing, mediating, and resolving concerns; interpret organizational policies and facilitate patient‑centered care.
- Interpret and enforce regulatory compliance of business entity policy and procedures; provide expertise and serve as a resource to committees and departments.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
- Act as a role model and encourage staff participation in their own development.
- May be responsible for selection, orientation, onboarding, and retention.
- Know the resources needed to resolve problems and when to use them to facilitate facility operations, particularly during off‑hours.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent clinical experience.
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Certification in BLS.
- 1–2 years of clinical experience with the relevant patient population.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, influence, decision‑making, analytical, and flexibility skills.
- Ability to balance clinical skills with supervisory authority and consider the ultimate impact of decisions on the unit.
- Practice skills according to department and professional standards and quality requirements.
- New Leader Experience certification within one year.
- BSN preferred.
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
$42.56 - $70.93 / hour
