Quality Assurance - QA/QC
IT QA Tester / Automation, Quality Engineering
Job Description & How to Apply Below
The Senior Quality Engineer is primarily responsible for leading quality across mobile and web products - designing test strategies, executing manual and automated testing, and advancing test automation. This role partners closely with developers, product managers, and designers to ship reliable, high-quality Bible experiences. The Senior Quality Engineer mentors other quality engineers, advances quality engineering practices, and embeds quality early in the development process so that what we ship reflects both engineering excellence and the weight of the mission behind it.
Define& Drive Quality Strategy
- Own test strategy and quality across our iOS, Android, and web Bible App experiences - definingwhat to test, when, and how to balance manual, exploratory, and automated coverage based on risk.
- Define and maintain automated API, contract, and integration testing strategies to validatebackend services that support Bible App experiences.
- Lead feature-flag and experiment QA - validating flag-on and flag-off states, configuring QA testers per variant, confirming exposure events, and partnering with Product on safe phasedrollouts and A/B test integrity.
- Own release health - interpreting crash-free-rate, ANRs, and hang metrics from our observabilitytooling; correlating issues to releases and experiment variants; defining quality gates that fail builds on regression.
- Drive production quality initiatives through monitoring, synthetic testing, release validation, incident analysis, root-cause investigations, and quality-driven postmortems.
- Track and report quality metrics (defect density, escape rate, test execution time, crash-free rate) to engineering leadership and product partners.
- Define and maintain automated API, contract, and integration testing strategies to validate backend services that support Bible App experiences, including integration of automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Execute thoughtful manual and exploratory testing of new features, release candidates, and edge cases - including app lifecycle events, offline behavior, network conditions, device/OS variability, and the App Store / Play Store release process.
- Champion mobile accessibility - manual Voice Over and Talk Back sweeps of critical flows, automated accessibility checks, so the Bible App works well for every user.
- Estimate, prioritize, and organize testing across multiple projects, balancing thoroughness with the release pace.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated API, contract, and integration tests that validate backend services supporting Bible App experiences.
- Partner with engineers and product managers to shift quality left - joining refinement, contributing to acceptance criteria, reviewing PRs, and pairing on test design so issues are caught before they ship.
- Mentor and develop other quality engineers by sharing knowledge, raising the team's quality bar, and helping junior and mid-level engineers grow into stronger QEs.
- Drive continuous improvement of our QE tools, frameworks, and processes, while evaluating new approaches, including AI-augmented testing, and bringing the best ones to the team.
- Collaborate with peers across You Version Engineering to embed QE practices into how every squad ships.
- Adaptability to industry-leading tools and the ability to integrate emerging QE technologies to continually improve processes.
- Ability to self-motivate, make independent decisions, and solve problems with innovation.
- Effective at multi-tasking and time management to meet strict deadlines while remaining flexible and open to change.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to clearly explain complicated processes and foster partnerships.
- Effective at process and organizational management to coordinate, structure, and provide vision to projects.
- Knowledge of software quality engineering principles, testing methodologies, automation practices, and software delivery processes.
- Ability to lead quality initiatives, mentor others, and drive continuous improvement of quality engineering practices and technologies.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in quality engineering, software testing, or a similar role, with a demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality software products.
- Strong knowledge of QE methodologies and hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Maestro, Selenium, Appium, JUnit, TestNG) across multiple layers (front-end, back-end, services).
- Paid parental leave, including maternity, paternity, and adoption leave.
- Generous employer-paid leave for the use of vacation, sick time, and other qualifying reasons.
- Innovative and comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance that provides team members with useful resources and savings to navigate their holistic health.
- Life insurance policy provided for all staff members at 2x annual salary…
