This is a Safety Sensitive Position.
About this Position
The Utility Line Locator identifies, locates, and accurately marks the location of City of Edmond utilities. They'll primarily locate and mark existing city-owned underground, fiber, electric primary, secondary, and service lines.
Must be able to work in all types of terrain and weather conditions. Some callback duties required.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or GED equivalent
* 6 months of related experience and/or training
* Or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Responsibilities
* Organize daily locate assignments into an effective route
* Interpret signals/output from equipment to locate underground electric lines
* Prepare various reports, forms, and records
* Read and understand utility maps, prints, and aerial imagery
* Mark the location of underground electric lines
* Conduct research and analyze data regarding:
* excavation locations
* construction prints
* plat pages
* plans
* Run ground wires, place ground rods, and remove/replace marker signs
* Remove and replace manhole lids using a manhole cover removal tool
Necessary Skills
* Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools for locating underground utilities
* Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
* Ability and willingness to work in all types of terrain, environments, and weather conditions
* Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug, physical, and audio screenings
