Contractor Electrician Repairman

Temporary/Duration of Need Contract 245 Days per year 8 Hours per day Grade 70: $28.64- $31.04 an hour

Immediate Supervisor:
Maintenance Supervisor or Designee

Job Goal:
The repair and maintenance or installation of all electrical, fire, security, clock and emergency systems in the school district.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the installation and operation of all lighting, electrical, sound equipment and other related electrical systems performed by personnel in district owned and operated buildings.
  • Recommend and procure supplies and equipment for purchase, and maintain the inventory of district-owned tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Assume primary responsibility for the safe condition of lighting and all electrical wiring and similar electric elements in the facilities owned or operated by the district.
  • Determine which repair job may be performed by electricians, custodians and maintenance workers on the staff and which must be performed by outside contractors, and advise the Maintenance Supervisor accordingly.
  • Instruct custodians and maintenance workers on proper methods and proper use of tools in electrical repair work.
  • Review electrical plans for new construction and renovation projects, when requested to do so, and make recommendations.
  • Estimate the cost of electrical repair projects in terms of labor, material, and overhead.
  • Examine district-owned facilities on a regular basis for the purpose of preventive maintenance.
  • Train assigned electrical servicemen helpers as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or designee.
  • Keep immediate supervisor advised, at all times, of activities and progress.
  • On 24-hour call, available at any emergency due to a breakdown involving electrical problems.
  • Use trenchers, locators and related equipment.
  • Comply with all relevant local, state, and national building and safety codes.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Length of

Contract:

Two hundred forty-five (245) contract days.

Salary commensurate with experience on the negotiated agreement of the Support Employees of Edmond (SEE).

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Maintenance Supervisor in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policies, state law, and the negotiated agreement with the Support Employees of Edmond (SEE).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Education and/or

Experience:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Oklahoma Contractor Electrical License. Bondable and furnish Bond upon employment and keep in force during employment. Valid drivers license and a driving record that is acceptable to the school's insurance carrier.

Language

Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.

Mathematical

Skills:

Ability to plan budgets and use the mathematical skills required to do so. Maintain accurate records and support documentation for projects under the supervision of the position.

Reasoning

Skills:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
