Overview
HVAC Master Contractor / HVAC Master Technician responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems throughout the school district. Ensures systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable regulations. Serves as the district's HVAC subject matter expert and provides technical leadership to maintenance personnel and outside contractors.

HVAC Operations
- Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic control system issues.
- Maintain boilers, chillers, rooftop units, split systems, exhaust systems, pumps, cooling towers, air handlers, VAV systems, and associated equipment.
- Monitor and maintain building automation and energy management systems.
- Ensure proper indoor air quality and ventilation throughout district facilities.
- Respond to HVAC emergencies during and after normal work hours as needed.
Project Management
- Plan and oversee HVAC replacement, renovation, and capital improvement projects.
- Review mechanical plans and specifications for new construction and renovations.
- Coordinate work performed by outside HVAC contractors.
- Inspect contractor work to ensure compliance with district standards and applicable codes.
- Recommend equipment upgrades and energy-efficient solutions.
Maintenance Management
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair histories, and maintenance documentation.
- Order equipment, tools, replacement parts, and supplies.
- Assist in preparing annual maintenance budgets.
- Maintain inventory of HVAC materials and equipment.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ASHRAE, IMC, NFPA, state mechanical codes, and local building codes.
- Ensure proper handling, recovery, and disposal of refrigerants.
- Follow all district safety procedures and promote safe work practices.
- Participate in emergency preparedness and disaster response efforts.
Leadership
- Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance staff.
- Assist in evaluating HVAC contractors and vendors.
- Recommend improvements to district HVAC standards and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with principals, administrators, staff, and vendors regarding HVAC issues.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical or vocational training in HVAC preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible commercial HVAC experience.
- Experience with large institutional or educational facilities preferred.
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) preferred.
- Experience supervising projects and contractors preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Oklahoma HVAC Mechanical Contractor License or Oklahoma HVAC Journeyman License (as applicable).
- Oklahoma Mechanical Contractor License preferred if required by district operations.
- Master HVAC certification preferred.
