SUMMARY

To provide compassionate caring services to clients with developmental disabilities and/or senior care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide non‑medical care to children/adults with special needs or seniors requiring assistance or companionship.
• Implement assigned clients’ “Plan of Care.”
• Assist with daily living skills such as:
  • Feeding and helping with eating, including supervising self‑feed or orally feeding when unable to feed self.
  • Dressing or assisting with dressing as needed.
  • Personal hygiene and body care, including bathing, showering assistance, and full bathing if necessary.
  • Toileting support, bedpan routine, use of incontinent briefs, and cleaning after elimination.
  • Transferring between bed, wheelchair, or ambulation, using mechanical devices when required.
  • Positioning the client to desired positions.
  • Assisting family with housekeeping, shopping, meal planning, and preparation.
  • Providing transportation.
• Offer protective supervision, ensuring the client’s safety and guidance when they cannot be left alone.
• Perform Community First Choice (CFC) tasks within the client’s current living situation unless otherwise specified.
• For Respite Care, provide services either at the client’s home or a predetermined community location, as allowed.

ADMINISTRATIVE PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS

• Report accurate hours worked and duties performed on an approved time sheet at the time of service.
• Submit time sheets by the first of every month, ensuring they are legible and accurate.
• Maintain a clear understanding of SAILS Washington policy and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED SKILLS

• Must be over 18 years of age.
• Ability to communicate in English (written and verbal).
• Must be able to work independently.
• Physically and mentally capable of caring for an ill, infirm, disabled or vulnerable individual, including lifting, transferring, and managing combative behaviors safely.
• Understanding of professional boundaries.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:

• Must pass a Washington State background check.
• Maintain an active WA Driver License and Auto Insurance.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. (documentation required).

ONGOING ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Complete and pass the background check screening upon hire and every two years thereafter, or as requested.
• Maintain an active Certified Home Care Aide (HCA Training Available) and Nurse Delegation, along with other required certifications.
• Complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education annually.
