The Dietary Aide is to assist the Cook in the preparation and service of meals.

REPORTING:
This position is responsible to the Dietary Services Supervisor.

Overview

Join our dedicated dietary team as a Part-Time Evening Diet Aide, where your enthusiasm and attention to detail will make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives. In this vital role, you will assist with meal service, food preparation, and sanitation in a supportive environment that values teamwork and quality care. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary and food handling skills while contributing to the well-being of our residents in assisted living, nursing home, or hospital settings.

This is a PART TIME position. 3 days per week.

15 hours per week.

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 4:30PM-9:30PM

You will come in and help prep dinner snacks, and desserts if needed, and dinner set up. You will help the cook serve on tray line service. After tray line you will help clean up, sweep, mop, wash mats, general closing. The other evening aides leave at 8:30PM you will finish dishes, take out trash, finish closing. There is a lot of cleaning in this position since the other evening aides are doing dishes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist with food preparation and meal assembly according to dietary guidelines and safety standards
  • Serve meals to residents or patients with friendly, attentive customer service
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, dining rooms, and food service equipment
  • Support food handling procedures to ensure proper storage, labeling, and safety compliance
  • Follow all food safety protocols, including proper sanitation practices and cross-contamination prevention
  • Help with general kitchen duties such as cleaning utensils, dishes, and food prep surfaces as needed

PHYSICAL CAPACITIES:
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which includes an annual TB screening and physical examination.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuous bending, squatting, twisting and reaching.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, push, stoop and pull.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Primarily inside work, normal to above-normal temperatures, some noise, occasional fumes/odors, chemical exposure and potential exposure to blood borne pathogens.

This job cannot be performed without exposure to the stresses associated with an intimate, 24 hour skilled care environment that delivers care and services primarily to disabled and cognitively impaired residents in an aging population. Examples of these stresses include, but are not limited to: emergency health or safety response, weekend and holiday duty, unusual or impaired behavior by residents, family reactions to having a loved one in a nursing home, death and dying, oversight of state surveyors, ombudsmen and federal officials, presence of consultants and attorneys, and variable involvement of medical staff.
