Job SummaryFairbanks Morse Defense is seeking a skilled Davit Technician to support the installation, testing, maintenance, and service of hydraulic davit systems and related equipment. This role requires strong technical capability, professionalism, and the ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with regional offices and leadership.

Fairbanks Morse Defense is currently providing all newly hired Davit Technicians a $5,000 sign-on bonus — and after completing 12 months of full-time employment
, you’ll receive a $5,000 retention bonus!
- Install, repair, service, and maintain hydraulic davit systems and related equipment
- Perform electrical wiring on panels and davit systems (low and high voltage)
- Work independently on qualified product lines
- Conduct shipboard operations and occasional shop work
- Maintain test equipment, product manuals, and accurate service records
- Document work performed, inspections, and technical findings
- Follow all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) protocols
- Complete required annual safety training
- Uphold all quality system requirements
- Provide professional, high-quality workmanship
- Respond effectively to customer needs
- Aim for first-time fixes and maintain high customer satisfaction
- Maintain timely communication with leadership and regional offices
- Complete work efficiently and accurately
- Maintain professionalism in stressful or demanding situations
- Follow company processes, escalation procedures, and documentation standards
Education & Credentials
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in a technical field preferred
- Crane Operator Certification preferred
- Valid Driver’s License required
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required;
Crane Operator Certification preferred
Experience:
Associate degree in a technical discipline and four years military experience or relevant industry experience
Six years davit experience supporting navy customer or relevant industry experience
Hydraulic system experience required, davit experience preferred
Electrical system experience preferred
- Ability to read diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings
- Proficient with hydraulic and electrical test equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to travel approximately 45% domestically
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands/tools, stoop, kneel, crouch
- Ability to lift at least 35 lbs
- Must meet visual requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception
This role is an excellent fit for former U.S. Coast Guard Machinery Technicians or U.S. Navy Enginemen, as well as veterans with strong hydraulic and electrical experience. We welcome and encourage military applicants.
